In Bruges
I saw this at my usual cinema haunt (Empire cinema in Rubery) and I really enjoyed it — a black comedy with great characters, a brilliant script and a superbly chosen soundtrack. All the leads were excellent and Colin Farrell was especially moving.
10,000BC
I’d read and heard nothing but bad things about this but still wanted to see it to make my own mind up.
Diary of the Dead
I guess the fact that me and my mate were the only ones in to see this film (at least until two women turned up) should’ve been a bit of a clue as to how good this film was or wasn’t going to be. That said, it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting although I’m not what you’d call a fan of zombie films.
I Am Legend, AvP: Requiem, Cloverfield, Jumper
Four films I’ve seen at the cinema lately. Some were better than I expected, one was much worse than I hoped.
A kettle! A DVD! A CD!
Hi. My name’s Timmargh and I like to dress up as a gorilla and dig for worms in the garden whilst humming “My Baby Just Cares For Me” by Nina Simone. Actually, that’s a lie … my name’s Jeff. *ahem*…
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
A very funny film with a great plot and sometimes comedic, sometimes shocking action.
Children Of Men
A very well made film of a grim and disturbingly possible future.
Films that have me reaching for the tissues

Most of use have done it: we’ve gotten so emotionally involved in a film that it’s lead to the hypothalamus telling the parasympathetic branch of the autonomic system to activate nicotinic and muscarinic receptors stimulating the lacrimal gland to produce a mixture of water, mucin, lipids, lysozyme, lactoferrin, lipocalin, lacritin, immunoglobulins, glucose, urea, sodium, and potassium. (Thanks Wikipedia!)
“The name’s Bourne. Jason Bourne.”
I saw The Bourne Ultimatum at the cinema tonight and I really enjoyed it.
Robots in disguise!
I’m off to the cinema tonight to see Transformers and I can’t wait! I was never a fan of the original cartoon series (or “weekly toy advert”) or the toys themselves but the thought of two hours worth of enormous robots bashing the hell out of each other, the US army and the city around them appeals to the child in me. What can I say? I’m easily pleased.
“Here come the fuzz!”
Me and some of N’s family went to the cinema on Thursday night to watch Hot Fuzz.
This is going to take a while …
I’ve finally started encoding my DVDs onto my iMac so I can watch stuff in bed with the power of Front Row and AirClick and what better place to start than with my favourite films of the moment: The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Delicious Library
I bought Delicious Library the day it was released … whenever that was - last year I think. I tinkered with it for a bit but then got bored of manually entering all my DVDs, CDs and books. If you’re…
